(Marshall, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Volleyball team closed out their 2009 road schedule tonight when they took on the Mustangs of Southwest Minnesota State University. The Mustangs attacked at a .418 clip to take the victory 3-0 (25-9, 25-16, 25-14).
NSIC All-Conference Honorable Mention selection Amber Meyer (OH, 6-2, JR, Paxton, Neb.) led the Golden Eagles with seven kills and one service ace. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-6, JR, Peoria, Ariz.) had 20 assists in the match and added two block assists. Golden Eagle all-time digs leader Jaclyn Slepicka (LIB, 5-2, SR, Crystal Lake, Ill.) had 12 defensive digs in the match.
SMSU was led by Devin Diedrich's 16 kills and .640 (16K-0E-25TA) attack percentage. Mary Groth had13 kills, one solo block and three assisted blocks. Setter Sara Graff tallied 33 assists and Crissi Schewe had 12digs for the Mustangs.
The Golden Eagles are 6-24 overall and 3-15 in the NSIC while the Mustangs advance to 23-7 overall and 13-5 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston closes out the season this weekend as they host Wayne State College on Parent's Night and Augustana College on Senior Day. Game times are scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday and 4 p.m. on Saturday.
