Augustana Shoots 60 Percent in Second Half to Get Past Golden Eagles 92-60

(Sioux Falls, S.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team closed out a tough conference weekend today as they played Augustana College at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The Vikings used 20 points off of UMC turnovers to roll to a 92-60 victory.

Minnesota, Crookston led by only as many as two points in the first half before Augustana took a 10 point lead into the half. The Vikings went on an 11-0 run at the 16:55 mark of the second half and rallied to a 33 point lead with 33 seconds remaining. Augustana was aided by 60 percent shooting in the second half while holding the Golden Eagles to 27 percent from the field.

The Golden Eagles were led in the game by Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, FR, Albertville, Minn.) who scored a team-high 14 points. She was 4 of 11 from the field, 2 of 3from long range, and 4 of 6 from the free-throw line. Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) scored 13 points and led the team with two steals. She was followed by Diana Taddy (G, 5-6, JR, Two Rivers, Wis.) who tallied 10 points and dished a team-high three assists. Lauren Kessler (C, 6-1, FR, Albertville, Minn.) led the Golden Eagles with seven rebounds and earned a game-high three blocks.

Augustana College was led by Faith Tinklenberg who scored a game-high 15 points. She was 6 of 9 from the field and 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Megan Doyle followed Tinklenberg with 14 points and six assists while Alex Feeney added 13 points.

The Golden Eagles fall to 6-8 overall and 4-4 in Northern Sun play. The Vikings advance to 11-3 overall and 5-2 in the conference. Minnesota, Crookston travels to MSU Moorhead on Saturday, January 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
