Wayne State Downs Golden Eagle Men 74-56

cruz_damarius_09.jpg hendricks_adam_09.jpg risinger_kyle_09.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- Wayne State College raced out to a 44-19 halftime lead and shot 57.1 percent (32-for-56) from the field on their way to a 74-56 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Men's Basketball victory over the University of Minnesota, Crookston tonight in Wayne, Neb.

The Wildcats saw four of five starters hit double figures. Brett Spiker led all scorers with 21 points (10-for-12) and also pulled down ten rebounds. Amry Shelby scored 20 points (9-for-13) with ten assists. Brian Metz added 13 points (6-for-6) with five rebounds while Brad Starken chipped in with 11 points (4-for-13) and five rebounds.

The Golden Eagles were led by Damarius Cruz (Fr, G, Plymouth, Minn.) who scored 19 points (6-for-15). Adam Hendricks (Jr, F, Watertown, Minn.) added 12 points (6-for-7) while Kyle Risinger (Fr, G, Shorewood, Minn.) contributed 10 points (5-for-7) off the bench.

Wayne State College improves to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the NSIC. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 3-10 overall and 0-7 in the NSIC.

The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Sunday, January 10 when they travel to Sioux Falls, S.D. to face Augustana College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
