Dragons Rebound and Finish Strong to Defeat Golden Eagles 81-76

(Moorhead, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to MSU Moorhead this afternoon to take on the Dragons in a Northern Sun contest. The Golden Eagles led by eight at half 35-28 but MSU Moorhead used an outstanding 22 offensive rebound performance in the game to rally back to win the second half 53-41 and take the game victory 81-76.
 
Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) played a solid 34 minutes to earn a team-high 21 points. She was 7 of 14 from the field and 6 of 7 from free-throw line. Zelinsky dished out a team-high three assists and grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, FR, Albertville, Minn.) scored 14 points. She was followed by Kelsey VanAckeren's (G, 5-9, SR, St. Cloud, Minn.) 13 points and Gina Jaroszewski's (F, 5-11, JR, Moorhead, Minn.) 10 points.
 
Alison Nash-Gerlach scored a game-high 32 points. She was 8 of 16 from the field and 16 of 17 from the free-throw line. Kaycee Charette scored 17 points and was followed by Angie Jetvig who tallied 16 points. Charette also grabbed a game-high nine rebounds. The Dragons as we team grabbed 22 offensive rebounds and 18 defensive rebounds.
 
The Golden Eagles fall to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in the Northern Sun. The Dragons advance to 12-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston hosts Upper Iowa and Winona State on January 22 and 23 at Lysaker Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
