(Bismarck, N.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team traveled to Bismarck, N.D. tonight to play the University of Mary at the McDowell Activity Center. Both teams were riding a two game NSIC winning streak but it was Mary who kept the streak alive as they defeated Minnesota, Crookston 81-75.
The Golden Eagles were led by Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, JR, Northfield, Minn.) who finished with a game-high 18 points. She was 5 of 14 from the field, 4 of 6 from long range and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line. Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) followed Zabel with 16 points for UMC and led all players with six assists. Diana Taddy (G, 5-6, JR, Two Rivers, Wis.) closed out the top Golden Eagle scorers with 12 points. She tied Zelinsky with a team-high five rebounds and led all players with five steals.
Mary as a team tallied 16 offensive rebounds to aid in the victory. Offensively the Marauders were led by Rachel Zillmer's 17 points. She was 4 of 9 from the field and 9 of 10 from the free-throw line. Kayla Rogers followed Zillmer with 15 points all on three-pointers.
The Golden Eagles fall to 8-10 overall and 6-6 in Northern Sun play while the Marauders advance to 8-11 overall and 4-8 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston travels to Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D. tomorrow to play the Wolves. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
