(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Western Equestrian team wraps up their regular season when they travel to Fargo, N.D. on Saturday, February 6 and Sunday, February 7 for a show hosted by North Dakota State University (NDSU) at the North Dakota Horse Park. Saturday's competition will begin at 1 p.m. while Sunday's events will get underway at 9 a.m. It will be the second time the Golden Eagles have competed at NDSU this season.
U of M, Crookston heads into the last two shows leading Zone Nine, Region Three in the overall High Point Team standings. "We are looking to finishing the regular season on a high note and hope to clinch the high point team title in Fargo," says Golden Eagle Western Coach Nicky Overgaard. "We are focusing on doing what we each do best to contribute to the team. We are getting in some extra ride times which is helping everyone remain confident going into the horse show."
The Golden Eagles have a handful of riders that need a few more points to qualify for the Regional Competition. These will be the last two shows to garner those points. Riders who have qualified to advance to regionals are Kayla Klein (Jr, Hazen, N.D.), Tandra Klein (Jr, Hazen, N.D.), Megan Kramer (So, Owatonna, Minn.), Jackie Nikkel (So, Lundar, Manitoba), Amanda Peterson (Sr, Rochester, Minn.), Becky Rhodus, (Jr, Kansas City, Missouri), Anna Steen (Jr, Hanover, Minn.) and Kaitlyn Tollefsrud (So, Hawley, Minn.).
