(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Mary raced out to an 18 point halftime lead and held off an injury plagued University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team to take an 85-71 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) victory tonight in Bismarck, N.D.
The Marauders led 47-29 at the half and were led by the stellar play of Anthony Moody who led all scorers with 28 points (11-for-18) including going 4-for-6 from three-point range. He also pulled down seven rebounds and added seven assists. Eric Erdmann scored 15 points (4-for-9). Jordan Wilhelm added 12 points (5-for-11) with five rebounds while Cameron Lee added 12 points (5-for-7) with four assists.
The Golden Eagles have been battling without three starters due to injuries and fought back hard in the second half outscoring the University of Mary 42-38. U of M, Crookston had five players reach double figures. Matthew Heier (Sr, G, Ray, N.D.) led the Golden Eagles with 19 points (5-for-12) including going 4-for-9 from three-point range. He was a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe and also added five assists. Mike Larsen (Jr, F, Bluffdale, Utah) scored 14 points (5-for-11) and pulled down eight rebounds. Jason Servaty (Jr, G, St. Michael, Minn.) scored 14 points (5-for-7) including going 4-for-6 from three-point range. Darin Weeks (Jr, G/F, Green River, Wyo.) scored ten points (4-for-6) with six rebounds while Adam Hendricks (Jr, F, Watertown, Minn.) scored ten points (3-for-10) with four rebounds.
The Marauders improve to 12-7 overall and 8-4 in the NSIC. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 3-15 and 0-12 in the NSIC.
The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, January 30 when they face Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. U of M, Crookston defeated the Wolves in the NSIC Holiday Hoopsfest in Sioux Falls, S.D. on November 29.
