(Aberdeen, S.D.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team took on the Northern State University Wolves this evening in Aberdeen, S.D. Northern State took an early 7-0 lead and led by as many as 14 with 10 minutes remaining in the game. The Golden Eagles put together a comeback but could only get within seven points falling 63-56.
The Golden Eagles were led by freshman Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, FR, Albertville, Minn.) who scored 14 points. She was 5 of 16 from the field and 4 of 8 from long range. Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, JR, Northfield, Minn.) earned 12 points while Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) finished with 11 points and a game-high six assists.
Northern State was led by Jodi Reinschmidt's 18 points, 10 rebounds and three blocked shots. She was followed by Jenna Higgins who scored 17 points on 7 of 8 shooting.
The Golden Eagles fall to 8-11 overall and 6-7 in Northern Sun play while the Wolves advance to 10-10 overall and 6-7 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston is on the road again next weekend as they travel to Minnesota State and Southwest Minnesota State. Game times are set for 6:00 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday night.
