Golden Eagle Women Ready to Get Back to Confines of Lysaker Gymnasium

(Marshall, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team can't get back to their home court soon enough. The Golden Eagles are on a four-game road losing streak including a 93-67 loss to Southwest Minnesota State University this evening. The Mustangs were paced by 13 three-pointers in the game while holding Minnesota, Crookston to just four.

The Golden Eagles were led by Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, JR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who scored a team-high 16 points. She was 6 of 10 from the field and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Zelinsky needs just 43 points to move into second all-time in scoring at UMC. Bri Zabel (F, 6-0, JR, Northfield, Minn.) and Diana Taddy (G, 5-6, JR, Two Rivers, Wis.) followed Zelinsky with 13 and 12 points respectively.

Southwest Minnesota State was led by Tori Fink who tallied 21 points. She was 8 of 14 from the field and 5 of 7 from long range. Abby Kenealy earned 19 points while Taylor Voss and Lucia Puchelova scored 14 points each.

The Golden Eagles fall to 8-13 overall and 6-9 in Northern Sun play while the Mustangs advance to 14-8 overall and 8-7 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston returns home on February 12 and 13 to host Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State in more critical NSIC games. Friday's game is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. followed by a 4:00 p.m. start on Saturday.
