(Crookston, Minn.)- Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) took a 25 point lead (48-23) at the half and continued their steady play in the second half defeating the University of Minnesota, Crookston 75-50 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Men's Basketball action Saturday night in Marshall, Minn. The Golden Eagles were without three starters.
SMSU had four players in double figures. Kevin Andrews (5-for-7) and Taylor Huseby (6-for-8) each scored 13 points. Trent Carlson (4-for-8) added 12 points while Scott Roehl (5-for-14) added 11 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. Jordan Miller (3-for-7) chipped in with ten points.
The Golden Eagles were led by Adam Hendricks (Jr, F, Watertown, Minn.) who led all scorers with 17 points (6-for-17). Darin Weeks (Jr, G/F, Green River, Wyo.) pulled down 14 rebounds.
Southwest Minnesota State University improves to 13-8 overall and 8-7 in the NSIC. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 3-18 overall and 0-15 in the NSIC.
The Golden Eagles will return to NSIC action at home on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13 when they host the University of Minnesota, Duluth and Bemidji State University at Lysaker Gymnasium. Friday's tip-off will be at 8 p.m. while Saturday's will be at 6 p.m.
