(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team closed out its trip to Florida with a 9-6 non-conference loss to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) foe Augustana College today at the Russ Matt Invitational in Winter Haven, Fla. The Vikings had defeated the Golden Eagles 16-4 and 19-1 on Tuesday.
U of M, Crookston was led by Devin Croal (So, SS, Coon Rapids, Minn.) who was 3-for-4. Erik Nockleby (So, OF, Roseville, Minn.) was 2-for-3. Josh Kraby (Fr, OF, Glencoe, Minn.) and Stephen Woods (So, 1B, Naples, Fla.) each added a double and a run batted in (RBI). Ben Lazzari (So, RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) threw 6.1 innings allowing nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits. He struck out three and walked two.
Augustana College was led by Brian Knight who was 3-for-4 with two RBI and Charlie Dubanoski who was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Vikings improve to 10-9 overall while the Golden Eagles fall to 2-8. U of M, Crookston opens NSIC play on Friday, March 19 and Saturday, March 20 against St. Cloud State University at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Friday and 6 a.m. on Saturday.
