Golden Bears Take Two from Golden Eagles

Thumbnail image for Micki_Nogowski10.jpg(St. Paul, Minn.) - The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball team traveled to St. Paul, Minn. this afternoon to play Concordia- St. Paul in a pair of NSIC games. Concordia's Ashley Kluever threw a two hitter in game one for an 8-0 victory. The Golden Bears scored seven first inning runs in game two but the Golden Eagles battled back with three homeruns but ran out of innings falling 9-7.

Game 1: Minnesota, Crookston was held to just two hits in game one against Concordia- St. Paul. Katie Bowar (1B, 5-4, JR, Moorhead, Minn.) and Erin Fowle (P, 5-8, FR, Winnipeg, Manitoba) delivered the only base hits for UMC. Fowle also threw five innings giving up six earned runs while striking out five.

Game 2: The Golden Eagles started game two like they finished game one giving up seven running in the first session. It was an uphill battle after that as UMC scored one in the third, three in the fourth and three in the sixth before falling 9-7. The team tied a single game-record with three homeruns in the contest. The team now has nine homeruns on the season just two behind the single season record of 11. Erin Fowle was 2 for 4 with a three run homerun. Micki Nogowski (3B, 5-3, SO, Twin Valley, Minn.) belted two homeruns for three RBI and two runs scored.

The Golden Eagles are now 4-14 on the season and 0-6 in NSIC play. Minnesota, Crookston returns to the field on Sunday, April 11 when they play the Huskies of St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud. Game time is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
