(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball program today announced the signing of Cornelius Mosby of Chicago, Ill. to a National Letter of Intent. Mosby is a 6'7", 218 lb, power forward who is transferring from Ellsworth Community College of Ellsworth, Iowa after playing there the last two seasons.
At Ellsworth, Mosby played on a team that was ranked number one in the country at the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division II level most of the year. He was named third team all-region.
Golden Eagle Head Men's Basketball Coach Jeff Oseth is excited about the addition of Mosby to the U of M, Crookston program. "Cornelius is an outstanding rebounder and defensive player," says Coach Oseth. "We have watched him since his freshmen year at Ellsworth. The strength he put on from his freshmen year to his sophomore year has been tremendous. With the added strength, it will enable Cornelius to guard bigger players. What we like about his game is that he is able to run the floor, rebound and guard a number of different positions on the floor. He is an athletic player that plays hard. We recruited Cornelius throughout the year and eventually he signed at an NCAA Division II school in Texas. But as the summer went on Cornelius felt it was too far away from home. So he contacted us to see if we were still interested and we certainly were. Coach Vic Garza was a great help in his recruitment."
Mosby will be a criminal justice major at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. He is the son of Yolanda and Antonio Johnson of Chicago, Ill.
