(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team will open the 2010 season with practice on Monday, August 16 at the UMC Soccer Field. Practices will run twice daily from 8-10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.

Golden Eagle Head Coach Richard Jones enters his second season at the helm and is excited to get things started. "I am very excited about the talent and depth that we have added to our team this fall," says Coach Jones.  "The addition of leadership from Katie Bowar (5'4", Jr, M, Moorhead, Minn.) and Kayla Bowar (5'4", Jr, D, Moorhead, Minn.) will be a nice compliment to the 11 players that are new to U of M, Crookston. Our 11 newcomers are athletic and very dynamic. We will be young with 17 freshmen and sophomores but our sophomores gained a lot of valuable experience and playing time last year that will undoubtedly pay dividends this year. And it is always reassuring knowing that we have the best goalkeeper in the conference on our team in Anna Ogaard (5'8", Sr, GK, Maple Grove, Minn.).

The University of Minnesota, Crookston finished the 2009 season with an overall record of 2-15-2 and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) record of 0-12-1. The Golden Eagles open the 2010 season with a non-conference home match against Jamestown College on August 22. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
