Golden Bears Down Golden Eagles 4-0 in NSIC Women's Soccer

alcini_rachelle_10.gif(Crookston, Minn.)- Concordia University, St. Paul (CU) scored two goals in each half and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team 4-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action today in Crookston, Minn.

The Golden Bears struck first at 8:32 when Kari Janes scored off an assist from Savannah Nolen. CU made the score 2-0 at 43:59 when Chloe Weinberg scored off an assist from Janes. Sarah Sather took an assist from Arielle Stimson at 80:38 to increase the lead to 3-0. Kim Sauberlich closed out the scoring at 84:01 with a penalty kick.

Rachelle Alcini (Fr, D, Ann Arbor, Mich.) played admirably in net recording six saves in her first collegiate start in goal.

CU improves to 4-3-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the NSIC. U of M, Crookston falls to 0-7-2 overall and 0-4-0 in the NSIC.

The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, October 2 and Sunday, October 3 when they travel to the University of Mary and Northern State University respectively. Saturday's match begins at 11 a.m. while Sunday's match will begin at 1 p.m.
