(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader with the University of Wisconsin-Stout today at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minn. The Golden Eagles took game one 5-1 before the Blue Devils came back to grab the night-cap 5-0.
Game One Recap
The Golden Eagles scored three runs in the top half of the first inning and went on to win 5-1. Jordan Triestram (Sr, RHP, Shakopee, Minn.) and Nick Zawacki (Sr, RHP, Howell, Mich.) combined on a one-hitter. Triestram went five innings allowing one unearned run on no hits. He struck out seven and walked three. Zawacki came in and allowed no runs on one hit while striking out two and walking none. The Blue Devils got their lone hit with two out in the bottom of the seventh inning. Teddy Gutman (Sr, OF, Burlington, Iowa) had a double and a run batted in (RBI). Josh Kraby (Fr, OF, Glencoe, Minn.), P.J. Zwach (So, 3B, St. Paul, Minn.) and Casey Woodside (So, C, Albert Lea, Minn.) each had one RBI.
Game Two Recap
UW-Stout turned the tables on U of M, Crookston scoring two in the first inning on their way to a 5-0 victory. The Blue Devils threw four pitchers with Chris Lammert throwing the first three innings to get the victory. He allowed no runs on three hits and struck out three while walking none. Ryan O'Connell went 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI for UW-Stout. Kraby had two hits for the Golden Eagles including a double.
UW-Stout opens the season at 1-1. The Golden Eagles are now 2-4. U of M, Crookston is off until March 12 when they take on Wheeling Jesuit University (W.V.) in a non-conference doubleheader at the Russ Matt Invitational in Winterhaven, Fla. First pitch is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. (CST).
