(Marshall, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team traveled to #3 ranked Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday to take on the Mustangs in conference action. SMSU finished the match with a .343 attack percentage and took the match 3-0.
Alyssa Krikke (MH, 6-0, Sr., Grand Rapids, Mich.) led the Golden Eagles with seven kills and a .353 (7K-1E-17TA) attack percentage. Krikke also led all players with four block assists. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-8, Sr., Peoria, Ariz.) led the UMC setter core with 14 assists and earned a team-high two service aces. Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle defense with 10 defensive digs.
SMSU was led by Devin Diedrich who earned a match-high 21 kills. Cara Carson led all setters with 35 set assists and led all players with 13 defensive digs.
The Golden Eagles are 0-15 overall and 0-7 in NSIC play. Southwest Minnesota State advances to 14-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston returns home on October 8 and 9 to take on Northern State and the University of Mary. Game times are scheduled for 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
