(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team returns home this Saturday after taking the team's longest road trip of the season to Fayette, Iowa. The Golden Eagles play host to the Northern State University Wolves at Ed Widseth Field on Saturday, October 16. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
UMC vs. Upper Iowa: The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team traveled to Fayette, Iowa on Saturday in the team's longest road trip of the season. Bus-legs hampered the Golden Eagles in the first half and the team saw themselves down 28-0 at the break. Minnesota, Crookston rallied for 19 points in the second half but it wasn't enough as UMC fell 56-19 to the Peacocks. The Golden Eagle offense was led by Josh Perea (QB, 6-0, 175, Fr, Pico Rivera, Calif.) who completed 24 passes for 242 yards and two touchdowns. Perea's touchdown target was tight end Chris Clay (TE, 6-6, 220, Sr, Ypsilanti, Mich.) who caught four passes for 34 yards with two touchdowns. Eric Ogorek (WR, 6-0, 175, So, Hallock, Minn.) and Antonio Williams (WR, 6-2, 220, Sr, West Palm Beach, Fla.) caught seven passes each. Keith McBride (RB, 5-11, 195, So, Lodi, Wis.) rushed 21 times for 98 yards good for a 4.7 yards/rush average. Brett Rice (RB, 5-10, So, Poynette, Wis.) rushed nine times for 56 yards and added the final score on a three yard rush. The Minnesota, Crookston offense scored on drives of 80, 66, and 54 yards respectively and was 3-3 on red-zone scoring chances. The UMC defense was led by Justin Overby (LB, 6-3, 240, Jr, Langdon, N.D.) and Freedom McCullough (DB, 6-2, 190, Fr, Valley Village, Calif.) who tallied eight tackles each. Overby added 1.5 tackles for a loss of three yards.
Northern State vs. Augustana: Mark Hanley (WR, 5-10, 175, So., Chester, S.D./Chester HS) caught six passes for a career-high 126 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday to lead the NSU offensive effort. Hanley accounted for the Wolves' only two scores of the day on receptions of 73 and 41 yards, while also catching the two-point conversion following the second. Hanley caught one TD pass from each of NSU's quarterbacks. Mike Bogdanovich (LB, 6-0, 215, Jr., Windsor, Calif./Windsor HS/Santa Rosa JC) notched a game-high 10 tackles (five solo) for the Wolves in their 31-15 loss to No. 15 Augustana on Saturday. The junior had one of NSU's two sacks on the day and finished with two tackles for losses totaling eight yards.
