(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team opens the 2010-2011 season with an exhibition game against Valley City State University (VCSU) in Valley City, N.D. on Saturday, October 30. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.

The Golden Eagles have been practicing since Friday, October 15 and head coach Jeff Oseth is excited to match-up against someone else. "We are excited to find out a little more about our team," says Coach Oseth. "We feel good about the group we have.  If we can stay away from injuries we should be very competitive night in and night out throughout the year."

U of M, Crookston finished the 2009-2010 season with an overall record of 5-22 and Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) record of 1-19. Top returning players include Adam Hendricks (Sr, F, Watertown, Minn.) who averaged 10.7 points and 2.9 rebounds per game, Mike Larsen (Sr, F, Bluffdale, Utah) who averaged 7.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game and Jason Servaty (Sr, G, St. Michael, Minn.) who averaged 6.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

Golden Eagles @ Valley City State University  Saturday, October 30  6 p.m.

The Vikings finished the 2009-2010 season with an overall record of 20-10 and DAC-10 record of 10-4. VCSU was regular season DAC-10 champions. Top returning players include Calvin Kraft who averaged 12.5 points per game and Tyler Macomber who averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
