(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team closes out the 2010 season this Saturday, November 13 at Bemidji State University in Bemidji, Minn. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. from Chet Anderson Stadium on the BSU Campus.
UMC vs. Minnesota Duluth: Minnesota, Crookston hosted #1 ranked Minnesota Duluth on Saturday at Ed Widseth Field on the UMC campus. Despite the score, the Golden Eagles played tough against an offense that has scored 40 or more points eight times this season and a defense that has held opponents to under 20 points in nine games. UMC botched two kickoff returns that the Bulldogs recovered and gave them short field but the other yardage in the 55-7 victory was earned by Duluth. The Golden Eagles were led by senior, defensive back, Cody Brekken (DB, 5-11, 185, Sr, Crookston, Minn.) who led all players with 12 (5 solo, 7 assisted) total tackles. Brekken played his last game at Ed Widseth Field following a career that has spanned about seven years from when he played at Ed Widseth Field during his high school career in Crookston. The defense also forced two fumbles and recovered both. Offensively, senior Tim Ennis (QB, 6-2, 210, Sr, Lancaster, Calif.) completed nine passes for 100 yards with a long of 32 yards. Senior, tight end, Chris Clay (TE, 6-6, 220, Sr, Ypsilanti, Mich.) led the receiving core with two catches for 62 yards including the team-long of 32 yards. Keith McBride (RB, 5-11, 195, So, Lodi, Wis.) rushed 18 times for 30 yards and one touchdown. The two yard score in the fourth quarter capped off a nine play, 66 yard drive that took 5:21.
Bemidji State vs. St. Cloud State: Justin Lee (So., WR, 5-8, 197, Elgin, Ill. / Central HS) scored two touchdowns in the 35-14 loss to No. 25 St. Cloud State Saturday, earning his first-career multi-touchdown game. He scored on both receptions, totaling 26 yards as he scored 17-yard and nine-yard touchdowns. He also rushed four times, gaining eight yards. Cory Crosby(So., LB, 6-0, 234, Cold Spring, Minn. / Racori HS) led the Beavers in tackles with 11 (four solo) in the 35-14 loss to No. 25 St. Cloud State Saturday. He leads the team in tackles with 84 (34 solo). Zach Pulkinen (Fr., K, 5-9, 184, Caldwell, Idaho) kicked off three times in the loss to No. 25 St. Cloud State Saturday, totaling 207 yards, a 69.0 average and one touchback.
