(Marquette, Mich.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston volleyball team opened the 2010 season today at the Northern Michigan Invite in Marquette, Mich. The Golden Eagles faced American International College in the first game of the weekend and were defeated 3-0 (22-25, 21-25, 15-25).
Amanda Swann (OH, 6-0, So, Rochester, Mich.) led the Golden Eagle offense with 10 kills. Alexandra Skeeter (OH, 5-10, Fr, Milwaukee, Wis.) followed Swann with eight kills and a .278 (8K-3E-18TA) attack percentage. Kelsey Matykowski (S, 5-7, So, Sun Prairie, Wis.) led the team with 11 assists and Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, Fr, Rochester, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle defense with 13 defensive digs.
American International College was led by Ellisha Terry who had a game-high 17 kills and a .333 (17K-3E-42TA) attack percentage. Kervelle Redhead led all players with 17 assists and Kambryn Williams finished the match with 13 defensive digs to tie Wiesner for the game-high.
The Golden Eagles are 0-1 overall this season. The squad takes to the court again this afternoon to play UW-Parkside at the Northern Michigan Invite. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
