Golden Eagle Volleyball Hosts MSU Moorhead in Annual "Dig Pink" Match

dig_pink.jpg(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Volleyball team returns to Lysaker Gymnasium this Friday, October 22 when they host MSU Moorhead in the annual "Dig Pink" match for breast cancer awareness. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Minnesota, Crookston: Alexandra Skeeter (OH, 5-10, Fr, Milwaukee, Wis.) led the Golden Eagle offensive attack this weekend in conference matches against Wayne State and Augustana. Skeeter closed out the weekend with a team-high 17 kills and an outstanding .324 (17K-5E-37TA) attack percentage. Shannon Cologna (S, 5-8, Sr, Peoria, Ariz.) paced the Golden Eagle setter core with 50 assists, good for an 8.33 assists/set average. Libero Chelsea Wiesner (DS, 5-8, Fr., Rochester, Minn.) continues to lead the UMC defense. She finished the weekend with 23 digs and a 3.83 dig/set average. Minnesota, Crookston hosts MSU Moorhead this Friday, October 22 in the team's annual "Dig Pink" match. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Lysaker Gymnasium.

MSU Moorhead: Heidi Lensing (OH, So., 5-11, Belgrade, Minn/BBE) led the Dragons to a 2-1 record last week topping both Mary and Augustana in three-set matches and losing narrowly to No. 4 Wayne State. She tallied 14 kills against Mary on Tuesday and had 16 kills in both the win over Augie and in the loss to Wayne. She averaged 4.60 kills per set with a .306 hitting percentage. Also tough on defense, Lensing picked up 39 digs on the week, leading the team against Augustana. She had 3.90 digs per set. She also had three service aces on the week. Leigh Splittstoesser (S, 5-9, Sr., Stewartville, Minn./Stewartville) led the Dragons with 12.90 assists per set this past week as the team went 2-1 on the week. She had 129 assists in 10 sets and also had four kills. She also had 45 digs on the week, ranking second on the team. The Dragons went 2-1 on the week, topping Mary and Augustana in three-set matches and suffering a hard fought four-set match against No. 4 Wayne State. The team had a five match winning streak going into Saturday's match but it was ended as the Wildcat's proved their ranking. Heidi Lensing led the team as she averaged 4.60 kills per set over the week tallying 46 in three matches. Leigh Splittstoesser had 129 assists on the week while tallying 45 digs. Katy Ness led the defense as she had 48 digs.
