Burnsville, Minn. - The defending NSIC Tournament Champions of Wayne State College were selected as the 2010-11 NSIC Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' favorite. The Wildcats accumulated 166 points with 11 first place votes to earn the honor. Augustana College (152) was ranked second and received two first place votes while Concordia-St. Paul (150) was third with one first place vote. Minnesota Duluth and Winona State tied for fourth place in the poll as they both amassed 125 points.
The Wildcats will also boast the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year in Ashley Arlen. Arlen was a Daktronics All-Region and NSIC All-Conference First Teamer last year as well as making the NSIC/Sanford Health All-Tournament Team.
NSIC coaches rank each team from 1 to 13 with a first place vote receiving 13 points, second place 12, third place 11, etc. Coaches do not rank their own team or vote for their own players.
The 2010-11 women's basketball season gets underway on Saturday, November 13 and NSIC action on December 3rd.
