(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team outscored Mayville State University 9-7 in the overtime stanza to take a 78-76 non-conference victory Tuesday night in Mayville, N.D.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to 37-30 halftime lead shooting a blistering 57.7 percent. However, the Comets caught fire in the second half shooting 56.5 percent to tie the game 69-69 at the end of regulation. U of M, Crookston edged Mayville State University 9-7 in overtime to secure the victory.
The Golden Eagles were led by Larry Brown (Jr, F, St. Paul, Minn.) who scored 21 points with four rebounds. Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) added 18 points and four rebounds. Jacolby Anderson (Jr, G, Lancaster, Tex.) added 12 points.
The Comets were led by Shavontae Samuels who scored a game high 33 points and pulled down six rebounds. Wiley Jiles and Christian Harris each added 12 points with Jiles pulling down seven rebounds and Harris adding five steals.
Mayville State University falls to 3-2 while the University of Minnesota, Crookston improves to 2-0. The Golden Eagles return to action on Saturday, November 27 when they host Cross Roads College. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
