(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Men's Basketball team jumped out to a 31-24 halftime lead and held on for a 64-56 victory over the College of St. Scholastica (CSS) in a non-conference game tonight at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston, Minn.
The Golden Eagles shot 58.3% (14-24) in the first half and finished at 55.6% (25-44) from the field for the game. U of M, Crookston was led by Jacolby Anderson (Jr, G, Lancaster, Tex.) who tied for a game high 24 points (10-14 from the field including 3-5 from the three-point range) and added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Eric Dearden (Sr, G, Riverton, Utah) added 13 points (4-6 from the field including 1-3 from the three-point range) with six steals and four assists. Trent Graves (Jr, F, Hartford, S.D.) went 7-8 from the field for 15 points and had three rebounds. U of M, Crookston scored 26 points in the paint and 21 points off of turnovers.
The Saints were led by Brett Tester who also scored 24 points (10-13 from the field) and added five rebounds. Derek Anderson scored 11 points (4-9 from the field with three three-pointers) while adding three rebounds and two assists. Danny Schmitz scored ten points (4-14 from the field) with three rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The Golden Eagles improve to 4-2 overall. CSS falls to 1-5.
U of M, Crookston returns to Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action on Saturday, December 11 when they host Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) at Lysaker Gymnasium in Crookston, Minn. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
The University of Minnesota, Crookston is an NCAA Division II Institution and a member of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC). The Golden Eagle Equestrian team is a member of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).
