Golden Eagles Fall in Final Three Minutes to MSU Moorhead

The Golden Eagles led until the 3:10 mark of the second half when Morgan Zabel hit a jumper for the Dragon's first lead of the game. MSU Moorhead advanced its lead to four points and took the 64-60 victory.

Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Jr, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle offense with a game-high 16 points. She was 3-8 from the field and 10-11 from the free-throw line. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, So, Albertville, Minn.) followed Eul with 12 points and dished three assists. Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Gina Jaroszewski (F, 5-11, Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) both added 11 points for UMC.

The Dragons were led by Brittany Mayclin who finished with 15 points. Megan Strese finished with 10 points and Zabel grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Minnesota, Crookston falls to 8-10 overall and 5-9 in the NSIC. MSU Moorhead advances to 10-8 overall and 7-7 in conference play. The Golden Eagles travel to the University of Mary and Northern State University on February 4 and 5 for a pair of NSIC games. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m. on both days.
