Second Half Play Earns Northern State a Victory Over Minnesota, Crookston

Thumbnail image for Eul_Megan10.JPG(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team played host to the Northern State University Wolves today in an NSIC conference match-up. The Golden Eagles took a 39-33 lead into halftime, but the Wolves battled back in the second half to win the game 82-74. Northern State used a 10-3 run early in the second half to take a 43-42 lead. There were 11 lead changes in the second half and UMC had their last lead at the 8:07 mark when NSU hit a three-pointer to take the lead for good. The Wolves used an 11-0 run from 4:47 to 2:12 remaining to distance themselves from the Golden Eagles and to secure the victory.

The Golden Eagles were led by Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Jr, Rosemount, Minn.) who had 14 points and five steals. Carly Rothstein (F, 5-10, Fr, St. Michael, Minn.) was second on the team with 11 points. Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led all Golden Eagles in rebounds with six. Four Golden Eagles tied for the lead in assists with two each. UMC finished the game shooting 26 of 58 from the field for a 44.8% shooting percentage.

Jodi Reinschmidt of Northern State University led all players with 38 points and 10 rebounds. Krista Rabenberg was second leading scorer for the game with 17 points. Mikayla Barondeau was the second leading rebounder with nine. NSU finished the game shooting 35 of 66 from the field for a 53% shooting percentage.

Northern State University improves to 5-4 in the NSIC and 8-5 overall. The University of Minnesota, Crookston falls to 2-6 in the NSIC and 5-7 overall. UMC returns to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. to host the University of Mary in another conference match-up.
