Golden Eagle Women's Basketball Travels to Mary and Northern State this Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team travels to the University of Mary and Northern State University this Friday and Saturday for a pair of NSIC contests. Game times are set for 6 p.m. on both days. The Golden Eagles are currently in 12th place in the NSIC and are just two victories out of 8th and a chance to qualify for the conference tournament.
 
MINNESOTA, CROOKSTON - (8-10, 5-9 NSIC) The Golden Eagle traveled to MSU Moorhead on Saturday for a single NSIC contest. Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Jr, Rosemount, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle offense with a game-high 16 points. She was 3-8 from the field and 10-11 from the free-throw line. Brittani Wiese (G, 5-7, So, Albertville, Minn.) followed Eul with 12 points and dished three assists. Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Gina Jaroszewski (F, 5-11, Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) both added 11 points for UMC.
 
UNIVERSITY OF MARY- (10-9, 7-8 NSIC) McKenzie Foster (F, 5-10, R-Fr., Big Timber, MT / Sweet Grass County HS) scored more than a point a minute over the weekend, generating 45 points in only 44 minutes of play. The redshirt freshman opened with 22 points in a 69-52 win at Bemidji State. Playing just 24 minutes coming off the bench, Foster hit 5-of-9 three point attempts and all five free throws. She also had three steals. She was even more impressive in a 72-70 loss at Minnesota Duluth on Saturday. Foster posted 23 points in 20 minutes, making an incredible 4-of-5 shots behind the arc and 7-of-11 overall while once again making all five free throws. She also again had three steals. Over the two games, Foster averaged 22.5 points and 3.0 steals while playing 22 minutes per game, hitting 64.3 (9-of-14) per cent of three pointers and 56.5 per cent from the field while knocking down all 10 free throw attempts... Kayla Schmidt (G, 5-9, Jr., Beulah, ND) was also unconscious behind the arc, making a combined 8-of-12 three pointers and 10-of-15 shots over two games and averaging 15 points and 2.5 rebounds. Schmidt hit 4-of-6 treys in each game, scoring 14 points at BSU and 16 at UMD.
 
NORTHERN STATE- (14-5, 11-4) Jodi Reinschmidt (F, 6-0 Jr. Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield HS) led the Northern State women's basketball team to a weekend sweep over Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State by averaging 18.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds. In Friday's contest with UMD Reinschmidt hit the game winning jumper with two seconds left in regulation to give NSU a 53-51 victory. She paced the Wolves with 14 points including shooting 8-9 from the free-throw line. On Saturday, Reinschmidt shot 6-9 from the field and 11-12 from the line to notch a game-high 23 point contribution that led Northern State to a 82-64 win over Bemidji State.
