(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team opens Lysaker Gymnasium this week as they host Dickinson State University and MSU Moorhead. UMC takes on the Lady Blue Hawks on Wednesday, December 8 at 6 p.m. The team returns to the court on Saturday, December 11 when they play the Dragons in NSIC action. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
MINNESOTA, CROOKSTON - (3-2, 1-1 NSIC) The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team opened the NSIC season last weekend at Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State. UMC fell to Duluth 79-87 before rebounding to defeat BSU 83-55. Minnesota, Crookston was led by Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, SR, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who tied a game-high with 20 points on Friday and led all players with 17 points on Saturday. For the weekend she averaged 18.5 points/game and shot 53.8% (14-26) from the field. She was 3-6 from long range and a perfect 6-6 from the charity stripe. She grabbed seven rebounds, dished a team-high six assists and blocked two shots to lead UMC.
DICKINSON STATE- (4-5, 0-2 DAC) The Lady Blue Hawks are led by Terri Washington who is averaging 13.4 points/game. She is second on the team in rebounding with 25 following the team leader Amber Adams who has 30. Dickinson will play MSU Moorhead on December 7 before playing UMC on December 8. The Lady Blue Hawks are currently on a two game losing streak after falling to Jamestown College and Valley City State University.
MSU MOORHEAD- (4-1, 2-0 NSIC) The Dragons are on a four-game winning streak after falling to Southern Indiana to open the season. MSU Moorhead completed the NSIC weekend sweep defeating Bemidji State and Minnesota Duluth. Angie Jetvig leads the Dragons offensively with 20.6 points/game. She is the Dragon offense as she leads the team in free-throws made and three-pointers made as well. Defensively, she leads the squad in rebounds and blocked shots.
