Golden Eagle Women's Basketball Closes Out 2010 Portion of Season at Home on December 17 & 18

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team closes out the 2010 portion of the season at home this weekend when the team hosts Augustana College and Wayne State. UMC will host Augustana College who is currently ranked third in the conference on Friday, December 17 at 6:00 p.m. The squad returns to Lysaker Gymnasium on Saturday, December 18 to host the top ranked team in the NSIC in Wayne State at 4 p.m.
 
MINNESOTA, CROOKSTON - (4-3, 1-2 NSIC) The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team went 1-1 on the week. UMC defeated Dickinson State 94-64 on Wednesday before falling in a nail-biter 64-62 to MSU Moorhead. Minnesota, Crookston was led on the weekend by Jamie Zelinsky (G, 5-11, Sr, Brooklyn Park, Minn.) who tallied a team-high 39 points. She earned game-highs in points on both nights with 17 on Wednesday and 22 on Friday including her first double-double of the season against the Dragons. She was 13-23 (56%) and an outstanding 11-12 (91%) from the free-throw line. She finished the weekend third on the team in rebounds with 14 and was tied for second on the team in assists with five. Zelinsky has led the team in scoring in five of the first seven games and is averaging 18.1 points/game.
 
AUGUSTANA COLLEGE- (10-1, 3-1 NSIC) Molly Hayes (G, 5-6, Jr., Harrisburg, S.D./Harrisburg HS) averaged 18.5 points and 4.5 assists per game last weekend, leading No. 19 Augustana to a pair of conference wins over U-Mary and Northern State. Hayes tied a career high with 25 points against the Marauders on Friday, draining a trio of 3-pointers and finishing 8 of 14 from the field. She also grabbed six rebounds in Augustana's 76-74 win. On Sunday against the Wolves, Hayes scored 12 points and handed out five assists as the Vikings picked up a 71-62 victory. The junior finished the weekend shooting 65.0 percent. Hayes also had three steals.
 
WAYNE STATE- (7-1, 4-0 NSIC) Alyssa Fischbach, a 5-11 senior forward from Mellette, South Dakota, averaged a double-double this weekend with 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game in helping the 13th ranked Wildcats improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the NSIC with home wins over Northern State and Mary. Fischbach poured in a career-high 19 points to go with 12 rebounds Friday night for her first double double of the season Friday night in a 61-50 win over Northern State and followed that performance with 13 points, nine rebounds and three assists in Sunday afternoon's 83-63 win over the University of Mary. For the weekend, Fischbach shot 57.1 percent from the field (12-21), was 5 of 9 from the three point line and 3 of 4 at the free throw stripe.
